we arrived at around 2020, 25 minutes early for the event #_#, many thanks to des and his kiasuness, me and weiguang decided to go to jason's supermark for some goodies, desmond, being his usual lazy fag self, decided to just sit in the tent, being a loner.
The event started off with us doing the packing for the drinks station crew/ route marshal, that was kinda slack, with me just inserting ponchos into the bag, but we were later assigned to do this shitty task--> Stack a mountainful of shitload chairs from one end of the tent to the other tent in 8's. weiguang being the usual slacker that he was decided to slack once more, running over to the bikes to test them out, in which he got CAUGHT slacking. Instead of getting his just deserts, he was offered a slacker job instead, checking the bikes out. Wtf? BUT he slacked AGAIN, and was caught AGAIN, the leaders got tired of his slacking and decided to ignore him this time.
Afterwards was a damn RUSH HOUR. the volunteers started to pour in 'minutes to midnight' and we, the VLC(volunteer welfare crew) had to give out their volunteer packs, t-shirts + ID cards. Saw some old friends there as well as some MJ friends who volunteered for this event too.
Our job pretty much ended afterwards, but we had to stay until 7++ am. Imagine, from 1am to 7am with no job to do, but we still get paid a paltry sum =).
The 3 of us ate supper at some benches, together with this newfound friend, YaoLe. the 3 of them for some reason or another decided to find me a girl within the large mass of thousands of crowd, eh but wth?
One whole day + night of no sleep + Sai Kung work stacking chairs = a tired nic, had totally no mood to go for some girl chasing, but tagged along with the 3 of them to go find some chiobus, we totally looked like 4 desperate guys man.
After hours of 'scenery watching' and weiguang & his info counter girl, the lot of us decided to experience the thrill of 40k, YES, 40k people running, it was definitely a sight to see and the highlight for the night for me. the experience was exhilarting and yes, i'd volunteer again, although this time i won't choose VLC anymore.
at 7+ am we collected our t-shirt and cash, and peng-ed in a bus before going home. Goodbye.
